Wednesday Night League
It’s time once again to start thinking about the summer golf league. Last year our Wednesday night league was competitive and fun, and I hope to see everyone returning and some new teams as well. Congratulations to Scott Mitchell and Kim Light who finished atop the playoff bracket as league champions last year, way to go guys! Now down to specifics. For those of you who are interested in playing and are new to this format, teams consist of two players who will both post individual scores. Your score will be handicapped using the USGA method so that golfers of all abilities can be competitive. It is a hybrid score incorporating both stroke and match play. There is a set schedule, and you will play matches against a different team every week, so you need to be able to make it to the course on Wednesday nights. However, substitutes are allowed if you have to miss a week or two. April 25th will be the first night of regular season play with a shotgun start time of 5:30, and the playoffs will begin in early August. There is a signup sheet in the pro shop, so include your name and phone number, please. If you are an individual looking for a team, signup and I will get you paired with someone, or you can also signup to be a substitute as we are always in need of subs. For any new league participants, I need you to turn in 3 eighteen hole rounds by April 15th so I can establish a beginning handicap for you. There is an envelope under the sign-up sheet for you to put your scorecards in. Play from the white tees, and play the ball up with gimmie putts inside the putter grip.
For the returning participants, I already have your handicaps from last season, so all I need from you is your money and your name on the sign-up sheet. Cost is $70 per team, and this covers all of the league expenses except for your cart fees, and optional closest-to-pin and skins contests. You can give me your league dues on the night of our first matches. Make sure you give this money to me. Don’t leave it at the pro shop, because the course is not responsible for holding league money. If you have any questions, you may contact me at (417) 531-0124. Once again I want to say thanks to all who participated last year, I hope to see you all again this year, and bring out some friends. I’m looking forward to another great season.
